The Originals Behind the Designs

For the first time, I am releasing the original artworks that inspired Kelly B. Rightsell Designs.

Before pattern, before product, before design, there were paintings. Each work began as an exploration of color, movement, and composition. These original artworks became the foundation for Kelly B. Rightsell Designs, shaping the visual language that collectors and clients have come to recognize. Until now, these pieces have remained part of my private archive. For the first time, they are being released to start a journey to new homes and to become your own family's heirlooms and childhood memories for a new generation. 

The Story Behind the Collection

The Heritage Collection begins long before a brand existed. In the late 90s, I was not setting out to build a design company. I was simply a young mother and working artist trying to create a home that felt personal, joyful, and imaginative for my growing family. When preparing a nursery for my first child, I searched for artwork and décor that felt artistic rather than overly commercial and found very little that reflected the warmth, color, and whimsy I had envisioned. What began as a few original artworks created for my own home quickly became something larger. Friends and visitors began asking about the pieces. Encouraged by the response, my husband Brian and I brought the paintings to an Atlanta gift show, unsure of what to expect. The collection sold immediately, revealing an unfilled space in the market for art-driven children’s interiors rooted in original painting rather than trend. From homes of friends to celebrities to even sets as large as the Reba Show, the designs took on a life of its own.

Which brings us to this special release collection today. After many years of selling prints, children's merchandise, and even bedroom set, we retired the collection to pursue other artistic avenues. Today, I am offering a glimpse into the past with the original paintings that inspired Kelly B. Rightsell Designs. These are one-of-a-kind and make the perfect addition in any home, nursery, or family collection of original art. For my longtime supporters, this will be nostalgic collection that I hope brings back sweet memories.
