Cheerful creatures inhabit nursery designs
Imagine a world where frogs play tennis and sit down for tea. Or rabbits attend ballet class and dress to impress. Kelly B. Rightsell, a former elementary school art teacher turned full-time artist, lives in this whimsical world every day. A Greensboro transplant from Richmond, Va., Rightsell has created a business born from imagination, and as the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention.
Her business, Kelly B. Rightsell Designs, boasts a powerful combo: sentimental value and staying power. Rightsell creates all of the original paintings and designs and manufactures them here in Greensboro, along with a line of stuffed animals and ceramic plateware sets. And since the company's birth, it has branched out into the marketplace by licensing several of its products.

special attachments to certain pieces of art, and often a "must have with
them at all times" relationship with our stuffed animals.

"Every day I discover more and more beautiful things." - Claude Monet
Did you know that towards the end of his life, Monet was nearly blind from cataracts but continued to paint from memory? I am awed by art - whether it is a Monet masterpiece, the art of nature or a child's scribble in a coloring book; there is truly a sense of beauty in everything that surrounds us. Like a wide-eyed kid on Christmas morning, my appreciation for art stems from a sense of delight and wonder. A true tour de force and an amazing artist; today I discovered Kelly B. Rightsell.
